Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
Breading Station
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Others
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes to ensure it’s hot and ready for crisping the asparagus fries evenly.
- Set Up the Breading Station: Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the last with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper for the seasoned coating.
- Bread the Asparagus: Take each trimmed asparagus spear and dredge it first in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it thoroughly with the panko-Parmesan breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to make sure the coating sticks well.
- Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Place the breaded asparagus fries in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even air circulation. Lightly spray them with cooking or olive oil spray for extra crispiness.
- Air Fry the Fries: Cook at 400°F for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning. The fries should be golden and crispy when done.
- Serve: Remove the asparagus fries from the air fryer and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces like ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo for a delicious snack or side.
Notes
- Thin asparagus spears cook faster and yield a crispier texture compared to thicker ones.
- For an extra flavor kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Use cooking spray sparingly to avoid sogginess while helping the fries crisp up in the air fryer.
