Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 6 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Dough
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll or pizza dough
Topping
- 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
- Optional: ½ teaspoon everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook the sausage: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Scramble the eggs: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Scramble the eggs in a lightly greased nonstick skillet over medium heat until just set but still soft. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the dough: Roll out the crescent or pizza dough into a large rectangle. If using crescent rolls, pinch the seams together to seal. Cut the dough into 8 equal squares or triangles.
- Assemble the rolls: On each piece of dough, layer scrambled egg, cooked sausage, and a generous sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese. Roll up gently and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if using.
- Bake: Bake the rolls for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before serving warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use turkey sausage or plant-based sausage for a lighter version.
- Add sautéed peppers, onions, or spinach to the filling for extra flavor and nutrition.
- These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and reheated in the oven or microwave for busy mornings.
- Substitute cheddar cheese with your preferred cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack if desired.
