Description

A quick and hearty Cheesesteak Tortellini recipe that combines tender sirloin steaks, sautéed bell peppers and onions, creamy cheese tortellini, and melted provolone cheese for a deliciously satisfying meal in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 package (4 count) Philly Sirloin Steaks
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Montreal steak seasoning

Pasta and Dairy

  • 1 bag (19 ounces) frozen cheese tortellini
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the Pan: In a large sauté pan, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the steaks and vegetables evenly.
  2. Cook Steaks and Veggies: Add the Philly sirloin steaks to one side of the pan. On the other side, add the sliced green bell pepper and yellow onion. Sprinkle 1 ½ teaspoons Montreal steak seasoning over both the steaks and vegetables. Cook the steaks according to package instructions while allowing the peppers and onions to become crisp-tender. Stir to combine steaks and vegetables once cooked.
  3. Add Tortellini and Cream: Into the pan with the steak and veggies, add the frozen 19-ounce cheese tortellini and 1 pint heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the tortellini is cooked through.
  4. Melt the Cheese: Once the tortellini is cooked, sprinkle 1 cup shredded provolone cheese over the pasta. Replace the lid and let it heat just long enough for the cheese to melt thoroughly. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen tortellini; adjust cooking time if using fresh.
  • Montreal steak seasoning adds a robust flavor; substitute with a steak seasoning blend if preferred.
  • Stir occasionally during simmering to prevent the tortellini from sticking to the pan.
  • For a lighter dish, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Serve with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
