Ingredients
Scale
Beef Filling
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup water
Cheese & Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, chopped cilantro
Other Ingredients
- 4 large flour tortillas (burrito-size)
- 2 cups frozen French fries, cooked until crispy
Instructions
- Cook the beef mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, approximately 6 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary. Add the minced garlic, taco seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 1 minute to develop flavors. Pour in 1/4 cup water and let simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the tortillas: Warm the flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave until they become soft and pliable, making them easier to fold without tearing.
- Assemble the burritos: Lay each tortilla flat and layer a scoop of the beef mixture in the center. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, add a spoonful of nacho cheese sauce, and then place a handful of crispy French fries. Add any optional toppings such as sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, or chopped cilantro if desired.
- Fold and toast the burritos: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly to enclose the filling. To achieve a delicious golden and crisp texture, toast each burrito seam-side down in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes until the outside is properly browned and crisp.
- Serve: Serve the burritos warm alongside extra fries, dipping sauces, or salsa for a complete and satisfying meal.
Notes
- You can swap the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter variation.
- Add some heat by including hot sauce or pickled jalapeños inside the burritos.
- Great for meal prep: individually wrap the burritos and freeze for easy reheating later.
