Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup blue candy coating or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter with both granulated and brown sugars until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, then mix in the vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
- Combine dry and wet mixtures: Gradually add the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until the flour disappears to avoid overworking the dough.
- Fold in add-ins: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and blue candy coating or sprinkles until they are evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
- Scoop dough: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, form rounded balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart to allow for spreading.
- Bake cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown while the centers still look soft to maintain a chewy texture.
Notes
- Ensure your butter is softened but not melted for the best creaming results.
- Don’t overmix the dough after adding flour to avoid tough cookies.
- You can substitute blue candy coating with blue sprinkles if preferred.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
