- 1 1/2 pounds whole mushrooms (such as cremini or button)
Seasoning & Sauce
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or parsley (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and trim stems if needed to remove any tough parts.
- Toss Mushrooms with Seasoning: In a large bowl, combine the mushrooms with melted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, fresh herbs (thyme or parsley), balsamic vinegar if using, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to evenly coat all the mushrooms.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the coated mushrooms out in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet to ensure even roasting.
- Roast Mushrooms: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the mushrooms for 20 to 25 minutes. Stir them halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning and tenderness.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the oven when the mushrooms are golden brown and tender. Garnish with extra fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately as a flavorful side dish.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms just before serving.
- These mushrooms pair wonderfully with steak, chicken, or as a savory side for holiday meals.
- Use fresh herbs for a brighter flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted if needed.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to taste to enhance the natural mushroom flavors.
