Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 4 pita bread rounds (white or whole wheat)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
- Slice pita bread: Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut each pita round into 8 triangle-shaped wedges. If your pita bread is thick, carefully separate each round into single layers to ensure extra crispiness when baked.
- Prepare the seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil with garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano or Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to make a flavorful oil blend that will coat the pita slices.
- Toss pita wedges: Place the pita triangles into a large mixing bowl, drizzle the seasoned olive oil over them, and toss thoroughly so each piece is evenly coated with the flavorful mixture.
- Arrange on baking sheet: Spread the seasoned pita wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensuring they don’t overlap helps them crisp evenly.
- Bake to crisp: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping the pita wedges halfway through the baking time to promote even browning and crispness.
- Cool before serving: Once golden brown and crisp, remove the pita chips from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving or storing.
Notes
- Customize flavors by experimenting with spices such as smoked paprika, za’atar, or chili powder for a unique twist.
- Store fully cooled pita chips in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 5 days.
