Description

Loaded Fries are a delicious, crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring crispy baked French fries topped with melted cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, fresh green onions, and a drizzle of sour cream. Optional toppings like diced tomatoes and jalapeños add extra flavor and heat, making these fries a perfect game day snack or party treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 1 (26 oz) bag frozen French fries (or homemade)
  • Olive oil spray
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare fries: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen French fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Lightly spray the fries with olive oil spray and season evenly with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Bake fries: Bake the fries in the preheated oven following the package instructions, which is typically 20–25 minutes. Flip the fries halfway through the cooking time to ensure they become evenly golden and crispy.
  3. Add cheese and bacon: Once the fries are cooked and crispy, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled cooked bacon over the fries. Return the tray to the oven for 3–5 minutes, or until the cheese has fully melted.
  4. Add toppings and serve: Remove the loaded fries from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter or leave them on the baking tray. Top with sliced green onions, drizzle with sour cream, and add optional diced tomatoes and jalapeño slices for extra flavor and spice. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a drizzle of hot sauce or chipotle mayo before serving.
  • Customize the loaded fries by adding ground beef, pulled pork, or avocado for a heartier meal.
  • Use gluten-free fries to keep the recipe gluten-free.
  • Leftover loaded fries can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
