Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- ½ cup light corn syrup or maple syrup
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
- Make the Crust: In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour and salt; mix until a crumbly dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Prepare the Topping: While the crust bakes, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Bring to a gentle boil, then remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Assemble and Bake: Pour the pecan topping over the warm crust and spread evenly. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment overhang and cut into 24 bars.
Notes
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- For a twist, add a splash of bourbon or sprinkle mini chocolate chips into the topping before baking.
