Description

Delight in these delicious homemade waffles, perfectly golden and crisp, filled with your choice of chocolate hazelnut spread, jam, or whipped cream. Topped with a luscious chocolate glaze and optional sprinkles or chopped nuts, they make a perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Waffles:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1¾ cups milk
  • â…“ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Filling (choose one or combine):

  • ½ cup chocolate hazelnut spread
  • ½ cup jam (strawberry, raspberry, etc.)
  • ½ cup whipped cream or mascarpone

For the Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons butter or heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup (optional, for shine)
  • Sprinkles or chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Mix Dry Ingredients: Preheat your waffle iron. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. Add the milk, vegetable oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract to the eggs and mix well.
  3. Combine Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Take care not to overmix the batter to ensure light and fluffy waffles.
  4. Cook Waffles: Pour the batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions until the waffles are golden brown and crisp. Once done, set the waffles aside to cool slightly.
  5. Assemble Filled Waffles: Choose your preferred filling—chocolate hazelnut spread, jam, or whipped cream. Spread the filling generously between two waffles to make a sandwich. For mini waffles, simply fold one over the filling.
  6. Prepare Chocolate Glaze: Place chocolate chips and butter or heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Stir in corn syrup if using to add shine to the glaze.
  7. Glaze the Waffles: Dip or drizzle the chocolate glaze over the filled waffles. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped nuts, sprinkles, or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra decoration.
  8. Serve: Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes or serve immediately while the waffles are warm for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • These waffles can be made ahead of time and reheated when ready to serve.
  • Perfect for brunch, dessert, or special breakfast occasions.
  • For a quicker option, store-bought frozen waffles can be used instead of homemade batter.
  • Try combining different fillings for a variety of flavors.
